Gambling Statement of Licensing Principles – Review
You may already be aware that the law relating to gambling changed in 2006. Under the Gambling Act 2005 the Council is required to review it’s policy every three years or when the council believes the policy requires updating. Part of the review process it to consult with those bodies and/or persons that may be affected.
Our formal consultation period has now begun and will run until Sunday 19th August 2018. There is one change to the policy, this is sumarised here:
SUMMARY OF CHANGES TO READING BOROUGH COUNCIL’S STATEMENT OF GAMBLING PRINCIPLES 2018
1. One sentence added into paragraph 11.2.1 in relation to Fixed Odds Betting Terminals. The sentence added is: ‘A consultation undertaken by DCMS has subsequently seen the maximum stakes for FOBT’s cut to £2 from £100. The DCMS response to the consultation can be found on the gov.uk website’.
