Overview

Blagrave Recreation Ground play area is a very popular and well used site in Tilehurst. The existing equipment and surfacing in two areas of the park have reached the end of their life and the Council is now taking this opportunity to replace everything and reconfigure the area to make best use of the available space. The Council is investing £200,000 at this park as part of a wider major investment across Reading’s parks and other leisure facilities.
The two new play areas will include a good mix of play equipment which is accessible to all abilities.
The Council has invited playground manufacturers to submit designs for the new playgrounds. The successful shortlisted designs have been published on the Council’s website as part of this public consultation.

Why your views matter

The Council values the public’s views and their opinion on the designs proposed for the site.
You can view the shortlisted design options here and vote online for your favourite.

What happens next

Once the consultation process has been completed, all public votes submitted on the Council’s website will be counted and will contribute to 25% of the total assessment to appoint the supplier. Other areas to be assessed are value for money, technical competency and the views of the Access and Disability Working Group, each contributing 25% score to the overall scoring.
The response to this consultation and selection of the winning design will be announced on the Council’s website in February 2021.
It is expected that work will start on-site March 2021 with the aim of completing by the Easter school holidays.
