Courage Park Play Areas
Overview
Courage Park is a popular local park. Currently the site has a mixed-age play area with equipment that needs replacing.
The proposed new Courage Park Play area is for junior provision to complement the new toddler play area at the Wensley Road flats site. This is all part of the wider Wensley Estate Improvement scheme.
The new play areas will include a good mix of robust, age-appropriate play equipment which is accessible to all abilities.
The Council has invited playground manufactures to submit design schemes. The successful shortlisted design schemes will then be published on the Council's website, along with a press release in the local newspapers, encouraging the public to vote on their preferred schemes.
The investment forms part of a wider plan to enhance the Wensley Road Estate and its surroundings for those who live there. The plan includes new homes built to zero carbon standards, a new play area and newly landscaped grounds. In addition the existing homes will receive new external fabric and insulation, new windows, improved waste facilities and new communal entrances.
What happens next
Once the consultation process has been completed, public votes submitted on the Council’s website will be counted and will contribute to 25% of the total assessment to appoint the supplier. Other areas to be assessed are value for money, technical and the Access and Disability Working Group, each contributing 25% score to the overall scoring.
The response to this consultation and selection of the winning design will be announced on the Council’s website in August 2021.
It is expected that work will start on-site in October 2021.
