Hackney carriage and private hire policy

Overview

The Hackney carriage and private hire policy is an existing policy which has been updated, details of which can be viewed in appendix A to R. The objectives of this policy are to:

To protect the public;

• Ensure hackney carriages and private hire vehicles are safe, clean, reliable and meet the varying needs of the consumer;
• Ensure drivers and operators are fit and proper persons;
• To provide clarity in the licensing process to licensees;

To inform on the Council’s disciplinary and enforcement measures.

What happens next

A report on the response to this consultation will be made at the Council’s licensing  Committee on 28 November 2018.
