Overview

Reading’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) brings together Reading Borough Council, Thames Valley Police and other organisations in the town to reduce crime and improve safety in the Reading area. Earlier this year the CSP consulted with residents on what the areas of focus should be for the new CSP strategy and the following priorities were agreed:

  • Reducing crime in the areas where this is significant
  • Working with communities to tackle anti-social behaviour and hate crime
  • Reducing drug activity in neighbourhoods
  • Reducing knife violence
  • Tackling organised crime gangs transporting illegal drugs across Reading’s borders
  • Improving safety for women in public places
  • Delivering a plan to reduce repeat offending by people who commit crimes.

Why your views matter

This is the first of a new annual Community Safety Partnership (CSP) survey asking people about their views on crime and safety in Reading. This will enable the CSP to ensure that the work it does delivers what residents need in line with the set priorities and that residents are kept informed of the work through the right communication channels.
