Overview

Overview

Transport matters to all of us. It connects us with our workplaces, schools, friends, and families.

It helps our economy to grow and our town to thrive, but it also affects the environment which surrounds us, our health, the quality of the air we breathe, and the safety of the streets where we live.

With more homes and businesses attracted to the area, doing nothing about our transport system is not an option. Every local authority is obligated to provide a plan to address the future of transport within its area.

During the summer of 2020 we ran a consultation with the business and education sector, and you, our residents, to get your input to help develop our new transport strategy for Reading. Your input helped shape the direction of the strategy, confirming the core strategic themes and priorities.

We’ve now used your feedback to shape our draft Reading Transport Strategy 2040. This is now your chance to comment – to let us know where we’ve got it right, and alternatives we should consider, to deliver the transport infrastructure and investment Reading needs.

Our vision is to deliver a sustainable transport system in Reading, creating an attractive, green, and vibrant town with neighbourhoods that promote healthy choices and wellbeing. Future mobility options will enable everyone in Reading to thrive, enjoy an exceptional quality of life and adapt to meet future challenges and opportunities.

So have your say and help shape the future of transport in Reading.
